I guess I should have thrown some details in here...

Haven't met the dog yet, so this is all hypothetical.

I already have one pit, a fixed female. She's an awesome dog. Hows runs like clockwork right now, and I'm nervous of f'ing things up by having more than one dog, but I've always wanted another.

The male would be neutered as soon as we got him, and i'm pretty anal about training, so he'd be thrown into training classes geared towards the Canine Good Citizen. Brandy has been through a large majority of the classes, but we don't really have the need to go as far as getting the cert...

I have a half decent sized yard, a fairly small house, and my wife is a biology teacher/animal nutjob, so we have a small zoo at home. the list:

    1 pit
    2 cats
    1 iguana
    1 snapper turtle
    1 150g fishtank.

Soon i'm going to have to start charging admission...

So, do I add another animal to that list? An unknown quantity at that? Hmmm...

Dont do it. Asking for trouble in my opinion... You say you have a nice balance going on... if the dog was younger... a pup who you could raise Id be all for it. I think with this guy you could be asking for trouble. My biggest concern is just not knowing how the dog has been brought up... whats its been through...

it wouldn't hurt to bring your female to your buddy's place to meet the dog, see how they get along. take some time and observe the dog, and make your decision from there. if things don't work out, just bring him to a no-kill shelter. Either way, he'll be better off in the end.

    update:

The guy got back to me, said the people he had looking at the dog all said they couldn't do it.

    sooo...

Going to look at him tonight. I think I have a home for him with a really good friend of mine, but he doesn't move into his new house for a month or so, so I'd be fostering the dog until then. However, if something were to happen to the deal on the house, or whatever, I would end up keeping the dog.

Either way, i'm gonna give the dog a shot. Chop off his balls, enroll him in training classes along side Brandy and see where it goes...

    Could get interesting....

Yeah, they're getting along great! The new guy is still intact, so he spends most of his time trying to mount her, but that'll be fixed soon enough...
