We should start a list of must have software for a Mac, meaning software you couldn't live without, and truly makes the Mac amazing :)

    -Transmit
    -Acquisition
    -Bluephone Elite

What do you guys find is the best program to mod the GUI? I want to make my new mac as custom as possible. Also, I've heard alot about LAUNCHBAR... what the hell makes it so much better?

if you want to totally customize the GUI then shapeshifter ( www.unsanity.com ) is your best bet. although i must tell you that it really changes everything, and at times can be kinda "sticky" for lack of a better term. :run:

    btw, i used it on a 1.2G4 w/ 768ram ibook

Quicksilver is awesome... I've totally eliminated all the icons I used to keep in my dock. I'll drop in my vote for Cyberduck over transmit for an FTP client. And I second (third, whatever) for Adium. And Xcode...

I love Quicksilver. Whenever I show off my Powerbook, people are amazed at the fact that I don't have to use my mouse or click on "Start".
But nothing amazes them more than Expose. :coold:

Is there any way you could describe "sticky" in more detail?

sometimes i have to click the buttons to close/max/min windows several times. sometimes things take a sec to open, menus take a little longer to drop down...

i mean, its not like its fucking anything up, i just noticed that normal system functions aren't as fluid.

plus it seems like every time i put a theme on, i never like all facets of it. i just like the way parts of it look. :run:

Where do you guys get your Mac programs from? I'm thinking about buying a PowerBook. Are there any cheap software distributors? I'm looking for Adobe and Macromedia software...
