It's all about the ammo. Nagants are very accurate IF you don't use the crappy milsurp ammo. The stuff everyone buys by the crate is for machine guns so in a bolt action rifle, it's bleh. Get the good matchgrade stuff and they can be sub MOA. Wolf has match grade available. Snipers in Afghanistan were getting 600 yard kills with the Russian 7N1 and 7N14 AP ammo.

Meh. Could probably find better quality stuff cheaper individually.

I use cheap polish stuff. LET ME TELL YOU. I have never had so much fun on the tin can range then with the mosin. They send those gallon milk jugs FLYING, same with motor oil bottles. I payed 100 for mine, well worth it.

They're pretty accurate rifles if you get one thats still in good shape and have the right ammo, but even with cheap surplus machine gun ammo they aint that bad. I would avoid that scope package though I highly doubt its any good.

As for being accurate, using surplus ammo and iron sights, I was grouping about 5-6" at 50 yards. And I am not that great of a shooter :o

Also, I have been thinking hard about getting a scope mount for the M44 and putting a cheap red dot on there. I know sportsmanguide have some red dots for $15-25 :big grin:

centerfire or someone recently had an add for some eastern bloc scopes for $60-70 that would fit on the proper scope mount on the Mosin's. I still dont have a 91/30 been thinking about buying 2 of them one to keep original and one to make a sniper clone

It is a cheap Barska. Probably not :(

But I have read some good things on the Mosin forums about the NCStar scopes. A lot of people use them on the Mosins with good success.

I want one so bad, i've been checking Big 5 every few weeks for the sales...always crap. Waiting for a good one to pop up. The local gun store has (had?) a beautiful M44...perfect stock, looked like it had never been fired, almost bought it, but with it close to $200 I decided to wait for one for $80 :(

I'm still looking for an ex-sniper 91/30 in decent condition.

Pretty much the same here, except they always have that one that I wouldn't pay $20 for

Good luck with that ammo. All Chek ammo I have had problems with the bolt sticking. It is a bitch to open after firing.
