i'd figured since there are a few owners of d80's here it would be helpful to share tips, etc.
d70 and F5 crew all up in hurr
so... What settings have you guys found success with?
I only shoot raw, but i'm looking for advice on sharpening levels, optimization mode, the long exposure and high iso NR...
stuff like that...
here's the last pic I took with mine...
I jsut picked up a D80 the other night, with the 18-135mm kit lense. So far I like it... but got alot to learn.
I'm using enhanced sharpening, +saturation, III color mode, and white balance I adjust accordingly.
Any settings that you guys use that you guys like?
what mode do you shoot in?
where are you enhancing the sharpening from?
I left my manual at home, can't find it...
what is the point of that viewfinder cover that comes with the d80?
So far, Aperture priority
Go to Optimize image > Custom > Sharpening?
My brother has it and everytime I go home to visit I tend to steal it from him. I have the D70s. Only thing though, I feel like the D80 oversells the image cause of it's nice screen. They always look better on the screen than they do on my monitor whereas the D70s looks better when I upload them to my computer.
you buy one?
I zoom in on the screen and whatever shows up on the LCD is the exact same as it shows on my computer.
I'm happy with the LCD.
bought it from costco so if i dont like it ill return it whenever
oooh the one in the big yellow box? haha i saw that there
is it worth it.. meaning are the lenses like good? ( im a DSLR noob at worst)
i was wondering if I should get it from Costco or eBay if they had a better deal...
i got it at costco bc of their wonderful return policy.
if i dont like the performance ill return it. I could return it in a year when the d80s comes out and swap it for that .
stay away from the ebay deals bc the lenses are usually garbage. Although I am not saying that the costco lenses are that much better. I just like the fact that I can return it if it ever breaks or if i dont want it anymore.
is it just me or is the thing really slow at AF and not hitting the claimed 3fps.
I was playing with a 30d today and I notice that thing is way faster at AF and fps. (I know it's supposed to be 5fps)
What lens does yours have?
The AF on mine is lightning quick.
I haven't used the multi frame shooting yet though.
Oh, and Phish, thanks for the tip... I found it.
slow mo f/3.5-5.6 glass 18-55
what are you using?
18-70mm and the 50mm 1.8
I've heard the 18-55 is slow, and honestly, not that great of a lens, from what i've read.
But it's a kit lens. Comparing it to another camera with a kit lens should be a pretty even test bed...
I find mine AF on my 18-135mm lense not bad at all. But I have nothing to compare it too.
Its the "kit" lense I got with my kit for $1379 CDN.
how is it at night?
Jesus why do you keep comparing them
D80 vs XTI
30D vs D200
get it right
bc the 30d is at the same price point...
