One thing that has helped me through my depressed times more than any other is music. In my toughest times during my breakup, turning to music is helping me heal more and more each day. I figured it would be a good idea to have a sticky music thread, people can post songs that help with depression, breakups, etc. I can update the original post as people post songs. Sticky?

    Depression/Lonelyness:
A Tribe Called Quest - Stressed Out (Hip Hop)
Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong (Rock)
Muse - Butterflies and Hurricanes (Rock)
    Muse - Feeling Good (Rock)
    R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts (rock)
The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It (Rock)

    Breakups:
Blink 182 - Man Overboard (Rock)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Kind of Man (Rock)
Linkin Park - Don't Stay (Rock)
    Muse - Hyper Music (Rock)
The Killers - Mr Brightside (Rock)
The Offspring - Self Esteem (Rock)
    Weezer - Why Bother (Rock)

I don't know many such songs but when I was still trying to get my ex back, I made a 8min video of us with adobe premiere, and I used
    112 - Someone to hold
    Link Park - My December

This list will vary greatly based on whether people place importance on lyrics or the actual music itself.

I think a song is about music, which is why a song is good regarless of if it's in English, some language you can't understand, or if it's an instrumental. Lyrics can help a song, but it's not poetry, it's music.

    That being said,

"Season of Change" by Stratovarius (prog metal with inspirational lyrics)

I know exactly what you mean Falconer; typically I do listen to more instrumental or some atmosphere music also... whatever sounds peaceful to me

Cool. Not to hijack, but I hate people who listen to shitty music (musically speaking) just because they think the lyrics are super awesome. I'm like go read a poetry book if that's all you care about.

edit - don't pay attention to my opinion because I'm an elitist when it comes to music.

Sad (not just sad, but contemplative):

    2pac - So Many Tears
    Bounty Killer - It's OK
    Case - Missing You
    DMX - Slippin'
Geto Boys - Mind Playin' Tricks On Me
    Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
    Styles P. - See What I see
Styles P. ft. Sizzla - Fire And Pain

    Happier:

2pac - Keep Ya Head Up
    G-Unit - Smile
Jadakiss ft. Styles P. - We Gon' Make It

I'll try and think of a few more 'cause I know I'm missing a lot, especially in the uplifting category.

my favorite song right now is Kaskade - Be Still ... not really an emo song or anything, but it's pretty good.

    My emo list is small...

    Gary Jules -Mad World
Pearl Jam - I am mine.
Stone Temple Pliots - Sour Girl
    Cranberries- Dreams
Shawn Colvin - Sunny came home
    Tory Amos - Sorta Fairytale
