I've installed two OS updates in as many days of ownership. :hs:

At least they weren't to fix critical security holes :mamoru:

The first day I got my G5 I turned it on & d/l'd a bunch of security updates. This was about 1mo after Tiger was released.

The fact that we never heard about them being exploited....:bigthumb:

Yet every OS update hasn't hurt ClearDock.

    sorry, Power Mac G5

anyone getting this loud fan issue? I had this when I first bought the Mac, but since I upgraded the firmware, it has been dead quiet.

    Until now....... :eek4:

I think w/the first 10.4.1 update I did. Then there was that fix by setting the CPU performance to highest that seemed to quell most of it.

But since I have the tower right on my desk next to me I hear it all the time anyway. Plus I have that nVidia 6800 which puts out more heat than the dual 2.3's so the fan on the card and the one in that "zone" run faster.

Putting your hand behind the tower in front of each vent you can tell the GPU zone runs hotter than the CPU. Odd.

my fan is always loud, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I just live with it. plus, it cools my feet down when it gets hot in the house.

I, too, ditched transparent dock for cleardock.
