What surprises me is the number of people with < 1 and top speeds > 150 only was noticeable early in the poll

I've been riding since I was 15 years old (29 now)... I've been riding sport bikes since 2001 (yzf600r -> r6 -> r1 -> cbr1000rr), but just traded in my trusty cbr1000rr for a vstar 1300 a couple of months ago... My friends and I all have significant track and/or road racing experience, and ride VERY fast in the "twisties" (knees on the ground, well into triple digits)... I have lost a lot of friends over the years, and figured I had pushed my luck for long enough, so I decided to go with something more mellow... I do hope to score a good track only bike in the near future...

This is also my 4th year of riding dirt bikes, and 3rd year of racing them (mostly offroad, but some mx)... I won a beginner class championship my first year of racing, and currently run mid-pack in the intermediate class...

When I ride HARD, I wear full leathers/gear... For normal around town stuff, I wear a leather jacket, helmet, gloves, steal toed boots, and jeans... I've crashed a handful of times in my 14 years of street riding (100 times in the dirt), but forutnately have never been seriously hurt...

That's been my way of thinking for a long time. If I want to race, I do it on the track where it's supposed to be done with a track bike. The street/highways are too full of dynamic dangers/unknowns to be screwing around. Welcome to a more mature level of riding. :)

You just use the part of the sandal that goes over your foot to touch the shifter...

I usually only do it when i ride to school, which is only like 2 miles and in a residential area so i don't really shift out of second gear :dunno:
