Was using my PC today editting some music and went into Nero to burn something. Nero informed me that no recorder could be found. I checked device manager and sure enough every single one of my CD-ROM devices were flagged (I have two physicals, 2 virtual SCSI drivers).

    Error code:
    Code:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
I can't find anything wrong.. ran virus, ran spyware, checked physical connections..

    Pretty damn bizarre. Any suggestions?

If they are normal ATA drives windows shouldn't need any third party drivers. Try deleting the device from the device manager, then rebooting.

That's what I thought too. I'll try that now.

Dammit, no good. Rebooted and checked device manager and they were back in the list flagged again.

My last burner died, and I haven't had a working CD drive in 4 years. :o
