Recently my desktop started getting "ticks" every now and then whenever I watched a video, listened to music, or played a game. Any type of media really. They are like little mini freezes where for a split second my computer stops functioning. Every time a restart fixed the problem but it is getting on my nerves. Once the problem starts it doesn't stop until I restart. Its not overheating or anything because it will happen right after i start up my computer, and coretemp reads normal whenever it happens.

I've never read about any problem like this so i was wondering if any gurus here might know the cause of this.

Edit: Sometimes if i let it continue for awhile it will totally crash my system
