As of this past Thursday...feels good to be done w/ OCS and have that gold bar finally.
good job. Enjoy BOLCII. NOT, frigging course was lame.
3 weeks in the fob, when honestly they should just cut it down to the final week.
Yea, not looking forward to BOLC II at all...I haven't heard anything positive about it, outside of convoy ops.
Convoy ops is a waste as well. They don't teach it well enough. Basically, they half ass everything due to time.
Congrats on earning your commission btw. What branch are you?
Not my first choice....nor my 2nd, 3rd, 4th...ha, it's ok though, I knew what I was in for when I dropped my packet. So BOLC really is as bad as everyone says...that's outstanding.
And it's going to be damn cold too. Brrrr. Benning or Sill? I'm glad I got out of BOLCII, somehow.
Back to Benning, start 7th of Jan. I still can't believe I had to drive to my OBC to check in and have them cut me TDY & Return orders back to Benning...what the gay.
stupid air force promoting slow. You'll still make captain the same time I do.
are you going to get a ranger tab?
I'm transportation, not sure what the point of a Transportation Ranger would be...though they apparently send a few from each class to attend Ranger school. I have no desire to get the Ranger tab unless i'm told I have to go to the school.
congrats! have fun with it.
i commission in may, hopefully
i take it you are going transpo?
im going MI branch detail Field Artillery
Thanks and yep, i was branched transportation...as far as I can tell...they roll the dice on branching as your education or military background doesn't necessary play a role in the decision (didn't in mine at least).
congrats man, atleast now and then you hear a success story that is worth a shit...
How long is OCS?
Is it like boot camp for officers? I'm not familiar with it.
I wanna do ROTC, unless OCS is better.
OCS = 14 weeks
OCS is also harder than hell to get into. I dunno how long army field training is but for the AF I'm pretty sure it's five weeks. unless you skip out on the 100 class in which case you get to spend an extra two weeks learning everything you were sposed to learn in two semesters.
At least you didn't get the BOLC III exedus crap. It's either take leave or HRAP or stay. Oh and we have to pay to keep our stuff in our rooms.
They do, my college roomate got one at eustis. I'm OD, we get ranger slots. Class size is pretty small too. Usually you get 2 or 3.
It's up to you. I did ROTC because I wanted to do the whole college experience and have some of my free life left.
They don't. They take your OML and start filling. Top third, middle third and bottom third in ever branch. They want all branches to get top LT's (not just infantry).
I would say that you have the most say in your POST. Where are you posting?
I am going to Knox...which was my top choice. And what exactly would a logistics ranger do? I know they send a few 2LT's from each class (TC/OD/QM), but I still haven't pondered up a good enough reason to want to go myself.
Congrats, I'll hopefully be heading that way this summer
