I have a question about OCD. Can OCD be about any kind of thoughts and actions or are they only about things like... being clean, checking yourself etc.

I did a search on the internet about OCD but could only find symptoms like... people checking and rechecking locks, stoves.. or washing their hands. But does OCD extend beyond these 'common' symptoms to almost 'any' kind of thought or action?

What specific obsession/compulsive behaviors and thoughts are you having?

Yeah, thoughts count as well. For example, if you think of a guy with an apple on his head or something, and then everytime you think of him you can't get that image out of your mind, like if you try to it just makes it worse, that's a symptom. However, if your thoughts are constant worry, it would probably be general anxiety.

    for your information:

obsession refers to those thoughts that reoccur: "Did I turn off the stove? Did I lock the door? Are you staring at me?!"

compulsion refers to constantly checking for your keys, checking the doors and locks all the time, flipping a lightswitch 13 times every time, washing hands ritualisticly, etc.

if the thought or action relieves tension (the serious kind of tension, not 'hard day at the office' type) to the point where you have to do it or think it in order to even attempt to function normally, welcome to OCD.

Peyomp, you're in Goa now? How is it there? What do you do for a living? I was planning on going there for a vacation when I was back home for a while...

yeah I have bipolar disorder and ADD as well.... but it doesn'thave to be, but if you have one of the major mental disorders like BP or schitzophrenia, often 'smaller' disorders come more frequently like OCD etc.

Not saying you're BP or schitzo or anything, but that's just how it is.

I probably have ADD, OCD, social anxiety, general anxiety AND depression...doctor said that depression can be the cause which all the others stem off of :embd: though I think they might be separate in my case :hs:
