I'm using a computer I got from my dad's office, but I'm using a restricted login. How do i find the administrative password?

Prove that it's your computer now, to do with as you please, and then we'll help. Get a pic of your dad thumbs-upping the camera with the computer displaying the Offtopic homepage, or something like that. It's one thing to ask for help breaking a lock on something you own and are allowed to mess with, it's quite different if you're going to make some IT admin's day a pain in the ass.

Google, dude. There's shitloads of information out there on this - if you have physical access to a machine, getting the admin/root/whatever password is a 5 minute job.

If the IT dept is smart they have a service on the PC which changes it every few minutes. That's how we run it. :eek5:

That's a damn good idea. Now allz you gotta do is make sure you know the password at all times.

Is it possible to make a PKI certificate be the password for the Administrator account?

My CIS teachers had a barebones Linux boot CD with a program that took about 30 seconds to boot and give admin password.

Do your employees run as power users? If so, they can get themselves admin, and no amount of admin account password changing can stop it.

Almost all companies are vulnerable to this.
