There was no ban because congress didn't pass one. Bush would have signed it.

Bush set the rules for the BATFE to go after people.

Bush came out against Heller in his court case.

So again, what beneficial things did Bush do?

Maybe nothing beneficial, but in recent light, nothing beneficial is better than detrimental.

I'm a little fuzzy on how the AWB works?

I understand once instated, you can't buy firearms that are deemed "assault" weapons, but if you already own them, you are grandfathered in.
But can weapons that are "pre-ban" be re-sold? Say I have 3 AR15s, the ban goes into effect, and my buddy or some guy on gunbroker wants to buy mine, can he? Or are they basically mine until the ban is lifted

It all depends on the wording. Worst case is there isn't a grandfather clause and everything is either turned in or seized. Highly doubt that would happen though.

The previous AWB yes you could sell prebans. But they can word a new ban anyway they want.

I was thinking about buying 2 more AR15 lowers... I'd probably only build one and hold the other for my brother/friend/family member, but fuck. I don't want to possibly sit on a lower for 4, 8, who knows how many years until a pres that will lift it.

If it were to mirror the previous AWB you could still build it, technically in post ban config but if the lower was made prior to the ban then its impossible for them to prove you didnt already have it built in preban config before the ban.

Didn't he complain about Bush using executive orders improperly during one of the debates?

You paranoid fucks, guns are going to be at the very bottom of Obama's list. There are much more important things for him to do, and he's smart enough to realize that anything too extreme will lose him reelection in 4 years, which he will be looking at. My guess is if anything happens with guns, it will be 2nd term, which means not for a while.

State /= national. There are completely different issues. As a state Senator, you can focus on whatever you want. As president, there are other, much bigger things for him to work on for a while.

The brady fucks are going to try and push that through ASAP, especially with the boom in sales. If it comes at all, I expect it to be within the first 3 months. After that 90th day, I don't think if we see a bill by then, we won't the rest of his term. Brady bitches are chomping at the bit right now.
