If you do not have the physical coa then you do not have a legal license regardless if you have a running install.

So regardless what these asshats tell you... You need to find the coa or buy a new one

    :ugh:
If I had to tell every customer coming in to give me their COA so I can reinstall Windows we'd never get anything done.

when I was in highschool I did tech work for a retail store... it was the easiest fucking thing to get a coa from the customer. no coa, no install. simple.

    Bullshit.

Microsoft and an army of lawyers could not force me to retain possession of the coa sticker for the sake of legality.

Bullshit. All that matters is whether the install is recognized by Microsoft as being valid.

They're not going to come to your fucking house and demand to see the COA sticker.

Unless this is for a business that might get audited or something, it really doesn't matter. Microsoft isn't going come into your home and disrespect your family because you lost a piece of paper.

correct, they're not going to. But as a business doing tech work, installing windows without a valid coa can result in getting fucked.
