by manual zoom do you mean you can actually zoom how you want to instead of the camera telling you what to do?

    weird

is this thing heavy? i like the zoom on this thing, but i read that it's about twice as heavy as the SD series cameras. does it really feel that heavy? also, what's the response time on this? that is, what is the delay, if any, from when you hit the button until it actually takes the picture. and what is the delay between pictures? thanks

after reading some more, looks like those are indeed real numbers :( i almost bought it too. looks like i won't be buying it after all... way too slow. i need to snap snap snap like a motherfucker. why can't they make an SD series with 10x zoom?!?! and a 2 sec MAX lag between shots WITH flash!??!

    caused you'd:
Burn through the battery in no time
burn the flash out in no time
add way more expense to the camera

even a good external flash for a dslr can be seconds in between shots if it needs full power and don't have new batteries

you can get 10x zoom all you want, but you're not going to get full flash time after time from any camera like that.

if only we're in a perfect world... should i sell my SD450 anyway? i already have 2 potential buyers. i was gonna replace it with this SX1000, but not anymore... i dunno what I would replace it with. 5 Megapixels is more than enough for me, so i really wanted the zoom. the AA batteries weren't very appetizing either. any suggestions? i'm afraid that if i wait too long, no one would wanna buy my SD450 anymore. i thought that i'd sell it while it still has some value.

anyone have any experience with Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ5? http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonictz5/

it's highly recommended by dpreview, and it's got 10x zoom and decent recharge time, much better than the SX100 anyway.

time in-between shots? how long do you have to wait before you can take another picture, with and without shot?

what i meant by recharge time is flash recharge time. as I have quoted from dpreview.com, they claim that the time in-between shots is between 5 to 10 seconds, with flash on. is this true?
