Why is that toy on your head?
my friend has a compaq desktop, it had a ton of crap installed on it and running like crap, she did not have the "recovery disk" or any helpful stuff that came with the computer

i reformated the drive, deleted the partition, (which on a compaq, i know is not a good idea), tried installing a copy of XP, and errors galore!

the "compaq screen" shows up, i can get into the bios settings no problem
also i can run repair if i start up with the XP cd

however after the bios screen when it tries to load of the hard drive the screen displays:
right now i just have one partition, would two solve this?
the NTLDR files are in the C drive, that is the only solution i can find online.
if anyone has ever had this happen or knows a solution it would be greatly appreciated. :x:

It sounds like the old boot record is still there despite the fact that you deleted the partitions. There is a small program (I think it is called Ranish Partition, something) that will fit on a floopy disk that you can use to go in and change paritions, set active partitions and manage boot records. Might want to try that.
