Went back to this range again. I like it. First time Ive shot any guns that arent on tripods, vehicles, full auto or anything in about 3 years. Shot about 500 rnds worth of skeet/trap/sporting clays, 2 Garand bandoleers at a white buffalo, 300 rnds of various FAL shooting, 200rnds of .22LR through the P22, a 75 or so rnds threw the 45-70 sharps.

Actually participated in some 2 gun match. Pretty fun except I hate waiting in lines. Dont know how well I did. Was 40rnds threw the FAL and 20 rnds shotgun. Dont know how well I did of the 15 or so other participants. I know I only killed on hostage, but he deserved it.

    Anyways, here's some pics

The white buffalo set out at 1138 yds iirc.

How much does '06 drop in 1100 yards?

    Nineteen feet?

Beats the fuck out of me.

I just point and click. I built that M1 about 4 yrs ago off left over parts and have never sighted it in. I pretty much just walked it in until the guy on the spotter scope kept saying "hit, hit".

Random hate within 5 posts. Excellent. Carry on.

  14. That's impressive. What rounds are you using? A 168gr SMK load has over 50 feet of drop at that range, and an unbelievable amount of wind deflection.

When your just walking them in until you get hits, the drop doesn't really matter to much...

  16. I guess the important question is "how big is the target?" I can't imagine using a 30-06 past 1100 yards and using a hold-over with iron sights lends itself to any sort of consistency.

I'm guessing its a full size buffalo, which is pretty damn big. When your trying to hit a target the is probably 10' wide and 6' tall its not to terribly hard. :)

  18. They should put even bigger animal silhouettes out further. At 1300 yards they could do an elephant, and maybe 1600 yards could be a whale.

Reminds me of shooting at stuff 75+ yds with a lever action daisy BB gun. Watching the BB fly all the way there is a blast:rofl:

Heck yes, I remember doing that. :)

You can about watch .380 bullets fly when a person cares to walk them into hitting something past 50yrds...

    Danish Surplus.

The buffalo is about 6'x10'. Still looks tiny out there at that distance. Once I started hitting it, I then made an attempt at the 2'x2' black square on the center. Hit it maybe 6 times, but it's fucking hard to see with out a looking glass.
