I was at fitrx today and saw they have Now Sports 100% isolate protein for the same price as ON whey, which uses a concentrate as an ingredient.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it. The only chocolate flavor they have is Dutch Chocolate and it only comes in 5lbs so I wanna make sure it's decent before I buy it.

Why do I care? I am mildly lactose intolerant and the larger the ratio of isolate is the easier it is for dudes like me to digest.

    Thanks

Here's a pic if it helps:

Why not just eat real food?

Most of my protein comes from real food. The only time I use whey shakes is for PWO protein absorption. I usually don't have an appetite after a hard workout so the whey gives me the protein I need until I get in my next meal about 90min later.

It's my understanding that the more micro-filtered (which creates protein isolate) the less lactose exists. ON uses a ratio of that and concentrate. I wanted to try out the pure isolate and see if I feel any different (digestive wise).

I usually use ON double-rich chocolate, so I am curious how the Now Foods Dutch Chocolate compares in taste.

I used to use that Nectar stuff because it tastes awesome and is 100% isolate, but it got stupid expensive.

I've heard it's poor quality but I havent tried it myself. I've been wanting to get some for intra-workout shit since it's unflavored and cheap as hell.

The ones at my local fitrx are flavored. It's dutch chocolate and vanilla bean.

Is it possible for 100% isolate to be low quality?

I guess I could just buy it and try it, but $45 is a lot to piss away for me if it sucks.

    THANK YOU!

How does it compare taste wise to ON chocolate?
I do like NOW stuff so far. I use their melatonin and arginine.

Shitty filtration process, poor qc, mass produced in quantity for low price.

This is just what I'm told.

Hmmmm... Not sure how I feel about poor quality control.

Mass production shouldn't matter much seeing as ON produces much more I would assume.

Maybe I'll check it out anyway. Thanks for the info.

I think I'll try the dutch chocolate. Not a big fan of vanilla, and unflavored sounds horrible.

    Thanks man.

Never noticed a difference switching between protein powders unless the carbs are higher.

Yeah, the difference I am looking for mostly has to do with pure isolate having less (read: basically none) lactose in it. I love my ON, but I have been having digestive problems after taking it lately. Gonna see if the pure isolate makes a difference. Isolate = more filtration, and more filtration = less lactose.

Thanks for the link, but I live near one of the few (maybe only) FitRx store and warehouse. They have 5lb chocolate and vanilla for $43 and 10lb Chocolate for $76.

I think I'll start off with a 5lb of dutch chocolate once my ON is gone.

Thanks again for the tips Deadbolt :bigthumb:
