Have any of you actually built this and got it running?

I was thinking of setting it up on this server, a 2GHZ Celeron with 512 megs of RAM and a crap video card, but I don't know if it can run it properly with shite video and my CTO yelled at me for wasting time.

Anyone actually set it up in X?

I've heard there's a LiveCD out there that uses XGL. Haven't tried it myself, though.

If you don't have a decent video card I wouldn't even bother if I were you..

Here's a list of cards that will work with it, but my friend has one of the lower end versions of one of the cards and it runs like absolute shit.

the live cd with it kicks ass, ive tried it on one of my systems with integrated video and one of my systems with a 9600... worked great on both.

ubuntu, however, has issues with it and thats what my home computer is on right now... you have to run dapper drake for it to work and thats still in beta and riddled with bugs

i know that a bunch of the gentoo freaks have it running over at the gentoo forums too

Why buy a Mac and put Linux on it? Seems a waste to me when you could get something that would perform just as well / be just as nice without the extra Apple cost :hs:

OSX is tailored specifically for their own hardware, which is why it's so nice and fast (even faster than most 'modern' distros of linux nowadays).. no extra loading of drivers or anything unneeded since the hardware doesn't deviate.

I'd tri-boot a Linux, OS X and XP, for a variety of reasons.

I got it running on my computer here at work with Kubuntu (dapper flight 6). Between it and Kubuntu alpha, it's a little on the buggy side though.
