... finding out that there are no public target stands except for on one range which is exclusively handguns.

Now I have to build some or buy some. :squint:

Do they have any reactive steel for long range rifle. How far can you shoot rifle out to there.

Yar says "no 300+ no care."

I'd like to find some place I can shoot out to 1000. that would motivate me to start my long range rifle project. 6mm AR

look into some stands by Tuffsteel. They are pretty cheap and might be what you're looking for.

Same deal at the public range I went to a few weeks ago.

I saw a guy out there with a nice design that was extremely easy to make. He made a rectangle out of 2x6 or 2x4 with a sheet of plywood on top and another rectangle smaller that could pivot into the larger rectangle. It was attached by a couple of bolts and looked portable and easy. :dunno:

Made an illustration for funsies since my explanation might have sucked:

Those work great. I use one and then staple two pieces of cardboard together to slide over it. I actually have several and they are perfect. I even "inspected" one of the Long and Foster signs I saw on the side of the road and it would have been perfect too.

The best one I have I found for $7 at a Wal Mart, it is so simple but perfect and shaped like:

I like using political signs. I am non-partisan and will shoot anybodies.

i built mine out of (3) 2x4s. It's 2 parts. The base, and then the posts. It's strong and can stand in the wind without acting like a sail. I staple a cardboard between the 2 posts and then staple my targets to it.

I took pics of it when I was building it, but cant find them. Dont feel like geting them out of hte closet to take pics. :o

I built it's dimension to fit in the bed of my truck. Works great.

i draw up a quick sketch. Gives you an idea. It uses exactly 3 2x4s.

If you're just bench shooting, use some PVC so it will fit in your car better.

No steel for long rifle (supply your own steel). :(

Longest they have is 200 yds. It's the best I can find around here. Even the shitty free range only goes out to 100.

    Yeah

I couldn't stand that awful free range any longer, plus this is only 25 min away.

Those are nice, but I can just as easily go to a hardware store and build one out of PVC. My DD being a Camaro makes a stand I can disassemble more attractive.

It's about the only gripe I have about the place if I consider what's available. Is it my ideal range? No... but it beats the nasty free DNR range out by Whitmire and is definitely attractive if you shoot a variety of weapons. They have some nice pistol bays that are for competitions where you can set up all sorts of target arrangements to your liking, they have a reactive steel plate machine for pistols, etc.

I bought a 6 mo membership and will take any midlands WMD'er who wants to go out so they can check it out.
