I haven't bought a pre-built machine in a long time and yesterday my nightmares returned. I got a Toshiba notebook and there is all this crap on here. Of this this typing, there are 42 processes running. My main machine only has about 20 processes running. Does anyone know of a site that helps disabling some of this Toshiba junk as well as which services that I could shut off? I would assume that someone has written something about disabling some of the Toshiba stuff that isn't required. I had a site bookmarked....but I can't seem to track it down. Thanks!

format, re-install.... that is a required step for ANY cookie-cutter machine from toshiba/dell/ibm/gateway/etc.

Yeah, what I was trying to do was a lost cause. I finally said screw it and put XP Professional on it. I still need to find a good piece of software to track the battery though. The included software only says the percentage, not the time left. :ugh:

I have not found any software that acurately predicts time remaining.
