...ah hell I'm an idiot at times. Turns out my Craigs List bride was actually referred to me by a good photographer buddy of mine and my late-night-after-too-much-editing-all-weekend was the culprit of my "carrot bride". I got so caught up in editing that I failed to see how much I was pushing the crap outta my pics to get them to "pop". I didn't even notice the oompa loompa tint to her skin. It's kind of like looking at an uncorrected monitor....after a while your brain tells you that the color is normal when it isn't.

Anyway, my thanks to all who pointed out my carrot bride and here's my new and improved fix. If you think it can be improved some more, please let me know.

Here you go. I can't believe I liked this the first time I edited it. Result of looking at the monitor for hours on end.

She still looks like she has a spray-on tan.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean about editing something for a long time.. and your brain starts to think it looks normal, when it is really out of whack.

It is a spray on tan. Not much I can or want to do about it.

is it too picky to remove the white fuzz on her arm that is off her arm.... just the stuff that stands out off the background?

my eyes went right for it

The top one almost looks a little too light. I mean, the skin now looks like normal, but SHE might wonder where her "great tan" went. Now, this is just my 2 cents, and would normally be something that would be more trouble than it's worth, but since this is kind of a special situation, you might try presenting her a little warmer version also and stating that it's two different "color temps" and that it's a personal preference thing so you wanted to present her with both options and then follow suit with the entire set from there.

Already ahead of you. I sent her an email with the two pics attached (but not the severe carrot top pic) and asked her which version she liked.

    whats your email :)

i used Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, adjusted teh reds hue and saturation a bit, as well as lightness.

then painted away the background with the layer adjustment mask

then added a brightness and contrast layer to bring back some of teh contrast and levels.

then dodge some of the darker areas out a wee bit. Someone mentioned the stache so i lightened that up a bit, as wel as the forehead.

Then i added a wee bit of exposure to it, just a smidge

all in all took about 3 min

Thanks man. sent you a PM. You're technique makes sense. I've got three books on PS but do I bother to read them? Not late at night apparently.
I need to pull them out and refresh myself.
