hey guys, im not extremely tech savvy, so bear with me, please!

I just recently joined a newsgroup (astraweb) and joined NZBmatrix.
when i find a movie i want i click download, it goes to grabit and starts downloading, i guess they all (or most) are a bunch of .rar files put together or something, but some of them wont download. is that normal?
also, once all the files do download into its specified folder, do i highlight them all and 'extract here' using winrar?
im sure i may have some more questions later, these are just the ones came up with so far.
    thank you

if you aren't sure whether or not you should post that here, you should check the stickies which review forum rules. this forum doesn't allow the discussion of piracy.

I don't see anything that says he is pirating anything. He's asking for general help about how to unrar a file he downloaded from a newsgroup. :ugh:

he's talking about joining a newsgroup that is used for sharing pirated movies.... then he is asking how to access movies that he downloaded from said newsgroup. there is nothing about that that isn't obviously a question about how to help pirate movies.
i'm not being all high and mighty about piracy. hell, i really don't give a shit about it and in no way claim innocence. i just wish people would read the forum rules and edit their questions to suit the forum. it all comes down to liability for the forum.

by the by, here is a link to that newsgroup. http://nzbmatrix.com/index.php look at the movies section.

It has always been the policy around here that a thread will be locked only if a specific copyrighted work is named or the threadstarter admits they are trying to circumvent some security measure.

Nobody who doesn't already pirate movies would ever know that NZBmatrix is used for pirating movies, and his post didn't reveal that information, hence no illicit information is being spread.

...or at least until you told me that NZBmatrix is used for pirating movies.

lol. you don't think that the people who would be concerned with piracy would know about NZBmatrix? it is the first site that comes up when you search google. someone finds a thread asking how to open up movies that he downloaded off of a newsgroup that are in rar format. you don't think that a person who cares would take it one step further? the original poster was stupid for including all of the information that made his post wrong for this forum. there are a million other ways to ask for the same help without specifying that he's trying to download movies from the internet.

When you un-rar them, you will most likely end up with an image file that you can burn/mount to play.

If you have an image file (ex: .iso), there are programs such as daemon tools that allow you to mount an image which creates a virtual cd/dvd drive. This allows you to access the data inside the image as if you had it on a CD. Useful if you don't want to burn a cd/dvd.

When you decompress the files, you only tell the first file to extract. That is generally the one with the extension .rar00 or .rar01 or just .rar. All the other parts to the same movie/disc will be extracted.

Honestly I am suprised you were able to download the movie if you are having so much trouble decompressing it.

OT: Why is it that when potroast left everyone felt the need to be hall monitor in his absense..... There no reason to come in here and start flaming piracy all over. If you don't like it just PM a mod and wait for it to get locked.
