    ...taking nude photos.

I've only been shooting for about 2 months, and I just had the 5th request for nude photos. I did my first shoot about 2-3 weeks ago for a girl that is sending a package to suicide girls. She asked me to do it and I told her upfront that I'm very new to this, have no education in photography or any idea whatsoever on how to shoot nude models, but she said she'd still like me to try.

last weekend, I shot 3 girls who've known me for a bit. mostly candid stuff, but it turned a little more serious after a bit. All I was doing was moving around and taking as many shots as I could, hoping one would turn out alright. No lighting or backdrops or anything.

So tonight, I had another girl ask me if I'd do some nudes for her. She's honestly the most beautiful girl i've met in person and has done quite a bit of lingere modeling and such, but never nudes. I told her I don't have any real experience with this and have no idea how to set up the scene, etc, but she said she'd still like to have me do it.

I have no fucking clue how to shoot people. In fact, there is not a single subject that i feel i'm "good" at shooting, and people just seems like the hardest one for me.

Either way, I she still wants me to do it so I was hoping to get some pointers on how to do artistic nude shots. Lighting rules, such as 'never position the light xx from subject. that kind of stuff. I'd be more specific on what I need, but I don't even know where to start asking.

With her doing alot of modeling previously, i'm just nervous about taking shots of her now and having them turn out shitty. Meh. help me.

they just wana fuck u and r using photog as an excuse

But 1st tell us what kind of gear do you have?
    What type of flash(es)?

    Just the built in flash?
Then you are kinda fucked and will be hard.
Best advice I could say is keep her far away from walls.
Use bokeh to hide shadows on walls and such.
Try to use a combo of natural light and your camra flash to fill.

oh yeah, and post some damn pics!

all I have is a 350d and the 18-55 kit lens. New gear is not financially possible at the moment.

and I don't think they're using it as an excuse to fuck me. I had already slept with 2 of them in the past, and I think it's just because they know i'm not some mouthbreather that's using the photos to get off. I'm pretty social and people usually have an easy time talking to me, so I think i might just be a comfortable person to be around...naked.

if i were you id buy a used 430 flash.

That one piece of cheap gear will improve your shots so much.
The ability to bounce the flash and get a much more even light will be well worth it.

like, hold it off to the side kind of deal or does that wire to the camera and sits on a stand off to the side? would it be possible to get the same effect using reflected shop lights instead?

I really can't afford to pick anything up right now. I'm working on moving to new zealand and have been putting all my money towards debts.

Obviously I don't mind doing this stuff, Beautiful women naked is always fun, but I don't want this to be the only thing I do.

Wildlife photography is what i'm really interested in right now, i'm just not set up for it. Since i'm learning, i'm jumping at any chance I get to shoot things and learn as much as I can.

Everything is just coming at me very, very fast. I was asked to display some pictures at a small art show next month, and I just went out "on assignment" with a small local newspaper last week, and they asked me to go on another one at the end of this week.

I feel like i'm going to war armed with a spoon and a world atlas, nothing else.

I was going to say this.

The girls obviously like your work, so there's no need not to get paid for it. Of course, if they aren't paying you, that might be why you are getting asked to do so many :o

Not posting the pics and no, i'm not getting paid. I told the newspaper I wasn't worried about being paid, either, but they're still paying me. i'm just working on learning.

And some tips on shooting would be awesome, ya know.

do you want to do photography as a hobby or as a profession? If it's just a hobby, then you must be doing something right.

It's cool if you're not up to posting these girls bits on the internets, I totally get that.

But there's no way anyone can give you any advice on how to make your shots better if we can't see what you're end results are like now.

    Thats just silly.

Then that's your answer as to why you've got so many girls interested ;) Especially the Suicide Girl one.. She made $300 off of something she got for free.. Sounds like a deal to me ;)

4 of the 5 have offered to pay, one left $100 in my jacket, which I returned.

I am not comfortable accepting money for my work at the moment, I don't feel it's chargable.

I'm wasn't wanting critiques on current pictures, just general rules for doing this kind of work.

Stuff like "Don't piss into the wind". stuff that might be common sense to alot of you photographers, but things i've never heard.

I took a photog class in highschool. I went the first 2 days, then ditched every day after. the ONLY thing I remember is the rule of thirds.
