But it's the pow-ah of Zaino on my girlfriend's 04 Grand Am! Before I got to it this weekend, this car had never been polished or clayed...

    Polished using ZPC
    Layer of Z2
    Spritzed with Z6

    Looks really good.....

... but way too many useless steps. No reason to wash with Dawn if you are using ZPC since it is fully compatible with Z2 and Z5, plus it and the clay will polish off anything already on the paint. Seriously, no reason to wash a car with Dawn anymore since it is hard on the rubber seals and trim. Definitely no reason to wash the car 3 full times. Wash, clay, ZPC, Z2 x 2, done. Save yourself a lot of time, use extra time to take care of your girlfriend. ;)

Just FYI, I only did the following steps on this Prowler-

Washed with Optimum No Rinse, light claying at the same time using ONR as the lube

Polished with a mix of Menzerna 106FF and Clearkote's Red Machine Glaze using a white LC polishing pad, buffed off with Clearkote's Quickshine to remove the light dusting you get with Menzerna-btw, that car was a bitch to polish, weird angles and getting between those front fenders and the front end was really fun. :ugh2:

Topped with Optimum Car Wax (a spray) and then Pinnacle Souveran.

Anyway, point is you can save yourself a few steps and your g/f's car would look just as good. Plus, if it doesn't take all day, you are more likely to seal it more regularly. Believe me, on my own car, I take as few steps as possible to keep it up. :)

Thanks for the kind words and advice. I thought about using Dawn after the fact and realized what you pointed out. Between the clay and ZPC, there was no reason to use it. That Prowler looks awesome! How's the durability of what you used? The main reason why I like Zaino so much is because it lasts for months at a time. I seal my car in September/October, before the first snowfall and when I wash the car for the first time in the spring, you can see the sealant still protecting the finish.

THT - That GA looks really good and I'm sure that the before/after is noticable. Good job. I used Zaino on my white Vette back in '90-92 and it was awesome! I haven't used it since though.

Scott - that Prowler...looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !! WOW!! How bad was it before you worked your magic?

I'm curious as well, how durable is the Optimum wax?

The Prowler is a garage queen so it really doesn't matter. However, on my own car OCW and Souveran give me a good 3-3.5 months of good beading and slickness.

If you like the durability of Zaino, you may like Werkstatt products even more. Kind of an updated nano version of the Klasse twins. Pretty compatible with other products too. If you really like Zaino though, no reason to stop using it. It definitely has great durability.

It had some minor spider swirls, nothing too horrible though.
