i'm static over the last 3 months. No weight or size gains. Routine has changed, maybe not dramatically enough. Diet is still at 4500 cals per day.

Should I take some time away from the gym...maybe 2 weeks or so?

No weight gain = you need to eat more. I dunno if you get a bunch of cals around training too but we don't have much info.

that's your problem. You're gaining weight, your body is gonna need more to build. You've made some nice progress in that 2.5 years. Things slow down from there too

4 hours before lifting ? That's a long ass time. If you can stomach some food there, go for it. Otherwise make yourself a drink and sip it before/during/after, whichever you prefer, but pre-workout would be pretty nice I think since you've spent a long time without much food. I guess that you're not getting food closer to the workouts because of your schedule but if you could, put the food intake as close as you can endure it.
As long as there are carbs and 20-30 g of protein you should be fine.

I like to eat about every 2 hours, I wouldn't feel right going to the gym after not eating for 4 hours

for the records my calves look great, but the only other leg work I can do are ham curls and quad extensions. Every time I do squats I fuck my knee up enough that I'm down for at least 1 month.

I'm going after diet. I'm going to go with some canned chicken...I don't want to do more than 4 servings of whey per day.

Start squatting heavy and your weight will go up, trust me. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that most of your routine probably revolves around isolation work. Ask someone in the gym for advice and read some articles on T-nation for some tips on squatting.

Have you tried hack squats ? Lately my hip has been a problem when squatting so I switched to barbell hack squats and it was fine.

Well, that's the minimum :p You can try to just change the meal timing so that you still get 4500 cals but more around the workouts. You wouldn't gained weight but body composition could change a bit.

If I were you I'd had a 300+ cals drink though. Something along the lines of water + chocolate whey + powdered milk, so that it's convenient and cheap.

You say eat more around the workouts. Would I be better off eating 3000 on non training days and 4000 on training days instead of just eating 3500 everyday?

My knee hurts from an injury before weight lifting. I have to keep my leg straight or the pain is excrutiating. I still hit deadlifts, bench, good mornings, power cleans...

Yes, you could. You can also just eat the same foods but closer to the workouts. I think that energy intake should vary according to activity level though.

I usually work out 1 to 1.5 hours after I finish eating and I drink my pwo shake within 5 minutes of working out.
