    2003 Nissan Maxima..

Transmission just took a dump at 34k miles. Now I am stuck driving my Jeep rental for the rest of the week till they get it fixed :hs:

They are picking everything up though.

1992 Nissan 240sx, 128K miles. Original trans. Works just fine.

Has their quality control really gone that far down hill?

i always thought nissan had high reliability, right up there with, though not quite at toyota/honda standards. sorry for the troubles. my brother has a maxima and no problems, none that were not caused by him at least.

91 sentra GA16DE 4spd manual 160k miles. runs like a champ and i beat the ever living piss out of it. although this clutch that i just put in only lasted 25k miles (must have been due to the fact that it was a no-name clutch kit and all the burnouts, and attempts at second gear chirping :o)

Must've been a freak problem. Didn't think tranny issues were common with Nissan's, just Honda.

quite frankly, i've been far from impressed with the strength and reliability of V-6 auto trannies in Hondas and Nissans. Hondas are worse; Y2k is the maxima an auto or a stick?

Nissan autos are better than their manuals, reliability wise.

Most of their manuals are made by FHI. Same people who make make manuals for Shitsubishi and Subaru. Nissan makes their own autos under their JATCO holding.

Day #9 still waiting on Tranny to be dropped off at dealer as of this morning, they said my car should be back to me by this Wednesday.
The dealership said they are unsure if Nissan will extend my rental car, would a call to Nissan consumer afairs do any good in this matter?
