I bounce, and have been bouncing at clubs/bars on and off for the past 6 years. What exactly are you looking to have answered?

One good thing I can recommend...make sure you can take a punch. :)EVERYONE gets hit once in a while and shots to the back of the head are not uncommon. If you have a glass jaw, stay home. I have seen quite a few guys who look big and intimidating get dropped like a bag of bricks because they didn't know how to take a punch.

i was a bouncer for 5 months (from jan to may this year).... i ended up quitting since my boss was a dickhead. it didnt pay well for me to take his bullshit all the time.

i only took the job to keep myself busy after my gf broke up with me so at first the money didnt matter since i have a regular day job. but once it wore off, i just couldnt take it.

but on the other hand, it was a good experience and easy to pick up girls.

I bounced on and off for two years and wouldnt do it again. I wasn't at some fancy club - just a couple bars. Hours suck and dealing with drunk people is worse. Wasn't getting home til almost 6am.

ohhhh yeah... this was kinda cool tho. the first bar i worked at had tons of punk shows, and they hosted like a battle of the bands type thing. one of the bands was from my high school and all the parents and parent's friends of people in the band showed up to watch the kids play. Well... the dad of the lead singer got fuckin wasted and started a fight with his neighbor (while his sons band was playing). So I proceeded to put him in a headlock and drag his ass out (through the crowd, making sure the kid saw every minute of it) and used his head to open the door. That kid never made eye contact with me again  good times

Hmm. I guess I'll see what the pay is..Drunk people are fucking annoying but apparently at this place there's like 10 security guys working at once so it might not be so bad..

I was offered a job working security at a club...after the head bouncer got shot three times.

I passed on that one. Next summer if I stay up at school I'll think about working at a bar at night since I'll be doing other shit during the day. A college bar during the summer shouldn't be much of a problem.

Here's one advice: Don't quit or get fired before the club's lawyers represent you for charges pending from working as a doorman. :hs:

Not only the pay, but generally you meet others that are bartenders/bouncers and you get GREAT deals when going to other bars since you know everyone in the industry

I might end up working security at a retail store, i wouldn't deal well at a bar considering i'm not too tall

What's that called...'proffesional courtesy' I think, when other clubs let you in for free and in front of the line if they know you're also a doorman. Some want to see a pay stub though.

yea my day job is also "industry" and i get in ANY club for free...and if theres a line, i get to budge in front and go in with no wait. i just had to show my business card.

then when i took the bouncer job, same thing but i had to show the paystub.

Bouncing can be a VERY rewarding job. But I'm a happily married man, :big grin: so I pass all the ass that comes my way on to my boys.

yea so is MaineSucks but the fucker weighs 280+ so that makes up for it, if your less then 6'2" you gotta be packin some serious mass not only to intimidate dumb fucks but to be able to toss em around. IIRC you weigh around 260 right?

I used to a few years ago. Its fun when you are younger, but the hours and dealing with dumbass drunks suck. I tackled a bum once only to find out that he was carrying a box knife in his pocket. :eek3:

The dude that works security for our parties is this huge black guy who carries a fucking tazer.

Watching him use that shit on two drunk skinny ass white boys was fucking hilarious.

Its really not. The pay sucks for what you have to deal with on a nightly basis.

I have been offered a couple of times to be a bouncer for a couple bars around town. I would never do it. I hate being around drunk people when I am sober, I don't like staying up late when I am sober, I don't like being sober on Friday and Sat. nights. Bouncing = not for me.
