I've read reports of customers that bought ABIT NF7-S motherboards, and having the Northbridge chipset coolers go bad on them after a few months of use.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think that my Northbridge fan might be failing, but I can't quite hear the grinding that people have claimed to have--my computer just sounds a little different than it usually does. So, I suspect that I might have a failing Northbridge.

If anyone could possibly tell me if I should immediately order a new Northbridge replacement, or if I'm safe sticking with the Northbridge I have for just a little bit more, it would be much appreciated.

Also, if anyone could tell me about the possible consequences of a totally failed Northbridge could do to my motherboard, that would also be of great help.

Get the zalman passive NB cooler. That's what I did when my gigabyte one gave up the go. It was about $10, and will never need replacing again.

Newegg even has them for $5.

Awesome. Thanks man. I was going to go for the Vantec Iceberg as a Northbridge replacement, but my experiences with Zalman have been great for processor cooling, so this should do the trick.

are you claiming htat you run yours without a heatsink? because that's BS! And I'll throw the flag nice and high.

EVERY mobo manufacturer puts a heatsink on the NB. Most don't put one on the SB.

Put one of these on my KT7A after the fan died. I give it another vote.:bigthumb:
