I'm not sure that normalising is a word but you get what I mean,

Is it possible to bring your metabolism back to where it was after harsh dieting.

Heres the story, years ago i was a big fat bitch I weighed 155kgs and I lost 55kgs of this using a very very low cal keto style diet. Anyway prior to losing the weight I could eat standard size meals 3 times a day and not gain weight. yes I was bigger and my calorie expenditure would have been higher.

BUT since then if I eat a standard 2000 cals a day now I balloon up even with cardio daily.

When I was dieting I was eating 900 cals maybe less a day.

Now its been 3 years since I dropped all that weight and my metabolism hasn't reverted back.

    I'm not sitting at 107kgs... 6ft tall

    Thanks

    been there done that....

yeah well i can quite easy live on 900 cals a day and not go hungry still

I used to have a protein shake for breakfast. 1/4 chicken for lunch and 1/4 chicken and salad for dinner. repeat that 7 days a week

    1/4 chicken is 300 cals
salad would be less than 100 cals
throw in a few almond and you have 900 or less cals

Truth. When you go shopping someone else said only buy stuff around the perimeter of the store. That's where all the healthy stuff is anyway.

yep - i had to do it myself b/c of exactly what you did. Although i was eating a lot more cals than you were, i was eating around 2100 cals and doing lots of cardio + intense lifting 4 days per week for about 6 months and my refeeds were too far apart. I didn't slow my metabolism down a whole lot, but it was slowed down considerably more than previously.

2 ways you can fix it:
1- slow bulk up. Diet must be over maintenance and have as many carbs as you can get away with. You will need more carbs. This will take 1-3 months usually and you will put on some weight at first. The reason is ur body thought it was starving before so when u eat more now, it holds on to as much as it can b/c it thinks u will go a long time before ur next meal. Also take natural metabolism boosters.

2- take thyroid/metabolism perscription drugs (need to see a doc + blood tests for this)... also take ur temperature. once in morning while ur still in bed. When it hits 96.5, basal metabolism is lower by 15-20%

if i were you i'd slow bulk naturally and get blood tests to check: tsh, t3/t4

I dont think so but you really can fuck up your adrenals and that will cause SERIOUS problems including fatloss. Get off ALL stims for 1-3 months or more too and they will most likely reset themselves

fyi - if ur on ephedrine u can boost ur metabolism by lets say 5-15% (varies on person) and if u get off it, ur metabolism will drop by that number... so lets say u shut ur metab 15% b/c ur diet was bad, then u drop ur ephedrine... u slowed ur metabolism by up to 30%!!!!!!!!!
