And if they are, how often are the needed? Diet ratios are about 20% Carbs, 35% Fats and 45% Protein.

i dont think you would. Your not depleting anything or in need of carbs. But you can switch ratios around to keep the body guessing and moving along with the weight loss. That helps me alot. Always remember to keep the overall cals as close as possible to the same.

Cool, thanks man. Ya, there is some variability in ratios everyday but cals are very close.

Like NoQ said - if you're not depleating something, no need to refeed it.

    Macro variations ftw.

I think it depends on your calorie intake as well... at 2000 calories... 20% carbs would already only be 100g.

They're necessary when you need it. It depends on a lot of factors. I try to get a "cheat" day where I get a higher percentage of my intake from carbs when I feel drained. If you're active (lifting, cardio and so on), you'll end up using glycogen stored and from time to time it's nice to replenish it. Make sure that you eat fruits if you're dieting since fructose replenishes liver glycogen store which controls blood sugar levels (which has an effect on how you feel, your attention and cognitive function and empty liver glycogen tell your body that you're starving and it becomes more catabolic).
