right now im taking muscle milk as my protein but that has a bit of fat and im trying to lose weight right now, essentially cutting guess. so my question is, would you guys recommend taking someting like ON whey as my post workout shake and then maybe only getting one scoop of muscle milk before my workout or at night? the reason i want to continue taking muscle milk at all is because of the "increased anabolic creatine output" that it claims, that and it just plain tastes good. thanks.

read the noob sticky, especially the parts pertaining to diet.

nobody can answer this question because we don't know the rest of your diet. what is your total caloric intake for the day? What is your maintenance level? Consuming dietary fat, like in muscle milk, does not by itself make you fat.

stop worrying about dumb shit like "increased anabolic creatine output". It's not going to make a damn bit of difference in your gains, I promise you that.

but it also says its good to take before a workout and before bed. i read that whey is used up pretty quickly once ingested, and that the protein in muscle milk takes longer to break down.

muscle milk isn't going to make you gain fat if you're eating below maintenance calories

No....fat slows digestion and reduces the insulin response to a meal. Look at the fat % in timberwolf's diet then look how ripped he is.

in that case what do you think is better post workout, just 100% whey, the muscle milk, or does it just not matter? and thanks for helping me out

edit: the reason i ask is because i read its better to have something like whey afterwards because its faster acting, not sure if thats true, but the muscle milk has other types of protein that take longer to digest and provide nutrition longer.

agree with ceaze... in the grand scheme of things, this really isn't going to make 1% difference in your progress. Unless you're at an elite level, little things like this just aren't going to make any noticable difference. Your training and diet are going to account for 99%.

I heard muscle milk is not that great. Im currently taking ON Whey (chocolate) morning, directly after workout and at night. To make good gains in muscle you need about 1g of protein for every pound in your body. Just have a good diet with lots of protein in every meal.
