My computer is needing a format soon, and its starting to piss me off. I use xpsp2 32bit (pentium 4 still) currently. My questions are:

    1) Is vista stable enough to not have to dual boot?
    2) Do apps/games that work on xp work on vista? 100?
    3) Should I get vista as my next OS? Ive never tried it, Im quite computer literate, but Ive never used a "beta" OS before.
    8) Will vista have raid drivers already? Or do I have to fuck around for an hour with a floppy disc to get it to work again?

Any other info you could give would help, heres system specs:
    P4 3.2 @ 3.36
    2gb kingston ddr
    x800 pro
    audigy 2zs
    2x250 seagate in raid0
    2x200 WD slaves
    asus p4s800d (I think) its a sis chipset :(

    1) No, I would recommend a dual boot. At this point in time, even on the fastest hardware, Vista runs very slowly.
    2) Most games seem to work OK, but because of the speed issues (Vista running slowly), I wouldn't recommend that.
    3) I would not recommend Vista for a primary OS. Wait till at least the Release Candidates, or even until full release. It is not stable or fast enough to be used all the time.
    8) Vista has quite a few drivers built in, and you would likely be able to install it without having to dick around with a floppy disk.

So, yeah.. stick with XP for now, unless you plan to do a dual-boot... definitely not ready for primetime.

Thats ridiculous. For those of you who have tried it, is it better than XP? I hear huge resource hog, but I think it would be ok on my system... Still slower than XP?

Definitely slower than XP... I have it running on a P4 3.0/1GB RAM/160GB SATA 8MB HDD/945 chipset... still runs like shit.
