Seems to be a lot of knowledge in this section. Will be used at the range but mainly for looking pretty in a corner of my house. What options do I have for something:

    - Under $800
    - Cheap/easy to find ammo
    - Reliable
    - Low recoil

Any reason I should avoid Saiga? Wouldn't mind an AR but I doubt I can find a good one complete for that price

Already have my CCW and I live in AZ so the options are pretty much limitless for buying online, I believe

    Ready for some knowledge-dropping....

this would be the other option. although i'm a fan of building your first AR yourself.

I would do this, i wouldn't trust myself with putting together an AR from the bones up.

why not? can you read and follow directions? the first firearm i bought was an AR kit like the one i posted and a stripped lower. it's almost child's play putting them together.

im sure its pretty easy but i hand built a turbo system for my mustang a few years back. Needless to say i nearly blew myself up in the car plus came very close to loosing fingers and eyes. So needless to say its going to take a while to trust myself again with heavy machinery lol

Another vote for CMMG bargain bin. Remember to get it hand picked by Denny. Jerry is a jackass, regardless of what Hoss will tell you.

You don't need any machinery to build an AR...just some hand tools and 3oz of cranial matter.

it's not even comparable. you're talking about a couple roll pins and some springs, then you check the functionality of everything before you fire a live round. but hey, what ever floats your boat.

  18. Either of the AR choices above would be good.

The worst you can do is install something wrong and its not gonna fire or ding your lower or upper

My little brother was scared to fire my homebuilt lower, thinking that it would explode or something. I tried to explain that there was really no way that was possible...but I guess some people just don't get it.

Seriously man, if you're even the slightest bit mechanically inclined, this will be cake for you. There are 1 or 2 parts that can be a bit tricky, but even those are pretty simple once you look at the walkthrough.

I'm not mechanically inclined in the least bit and I put my AR together without any issues whatsoever. Didn't even lose any springs and I didn't scratch up my lower at all. I'm not the only one with this experience either, ARs are pretty simple to put together.

It's like when people get confused when I say I build computers. Once you buy all the parts it's just a matter of putting the parts in the right places, it's not rocket surgery.

plus, (unlike the AR) most computers you *can't* assemble them wrong without really *trying* to break something.
