Well If any of you remember my thread about what DSLR to get because I want to get into photography... I went with the D40x w/ 18-135mm Nikkor as suggested.

    AND I LOVE IT!

I'm a complete total noob, im still getting used to adjusting things like exposure and such, but tell me what you think? I took this in RAW, then adjusted the EV and made an HDR shot, oh a circular polarizer was also used.

Excuse the water mark, not showing off, I just like the a-okay symbol and thought i'd incorporate it into my pictures, just for my own pleasure.

Pelf horizon (it's on a slant)
Subject blends in with the bushes
That rope/fence line is distracting as fuck, move next time
Sky is way blown out up top, crop it out or something

You may be right, I took it at 400 ISO I think on accident, somewhere into the process, i realized and turned it down to 100. Although, i'm not sure if this picture was before or after that.

Thanks! Thats the kind of suggestion to the keep in mind.. I never though of leveling the horizon.

What if I photoshopped out the fence and changed the levels so the subject (me) doesnt blend in as much?

    Pelf and blown highlights.

If you fixed both of those I do not think the fence would be such a big deal.

The problem here is that the figure directly in the middle of the frame makes the image too symmetrical and static. Crop the image to make it less symmetrical.

    aggressively cropped
    rotated so horizon is straight
    reduced noise
    removed ropes

you could still probably crop some off the top if you wanted to.
