Can you put a vertical fore grip on the standard hand guards? Or do you have to have weaver or picatinny rails to mount it on?

You should be able to get add on rails that attach to the standard handguards, and then attach a VFG to those.

  5. As it has been said, it is possible. Some people like it, others don't because they find the standard handguards to give too much movement with stuff attached to them.

That is interesting. They feel pretty sturdy but again I am a noob. New handguards are just so expensive...

Take a look at the Magpul handguard. $30, lots more options for mounting stuff.

wtf 30 bucks. im down. I been seeing like the four sided rail ones for like 150. Fuck that much for a handguard.

30 is much more my style. I am a cheap bastard.

I held one with a vfg and it feels more comfortable. I am left-handed and not sure if that makes a difference.

  14. Other than being more comfortable to carry at low ready for an extended amount of time I don't know of any real benefits of a VFG.

I guess the only thing I can see being the actual benefit is you dont have to remember where you grip the hand guard. But this is also why I dont like them, cant change grips on the hand guard that well

  17. I don't have any VFG love.

I am afraid for my right thumb.

  19. I'd be too if I were left handed. Not that it's likely to get caught, but it only takes once.
