All I have to say is

I went out for about an hour and a half today after I got it, it was about 90* and not much for wildlife around today. I cant wait for this weekend to really get to use it.

First 2 were taken wide open, the 3rd was at f/7.1

I spent about 45 mins waiting for this guy to come closer, but he wouldn't, he just sat in the middle of the lake

    thanks.

I love how fast this lens focuses, makes BIF a little easier. I cant wait to get out this weekend and get some better shots :wiggle:

Is that lens push pull only? One of our family friends got one and I was o_0. Didn't expect it to be push pull.

    yep, it is push pull.

Im still getting used to it, but if it were the standard type, it think it would require way to much work to go from 100-400 mm quickly.

I am a bit worried about the dust though, you can defiantly feel it pumping the air through there.

That lens is seriously the all around sporting lens if youre on a budget. You cant do low light sports, but that covers everything outdoors and during the day amazingly well.

yea, Im going to goto barr lake this weekend, It is home to like 350 species of birds (over the course of the year).

They also have over 200 nests of various birds of prey (including the bald eagle, which I have never seen outside of a zoo :x: )

I just hope its not really busy/loaded with people

If you have the money, Gitzo.

Since you dont need the sturdiness of a Gitzo though, you can look at Bogen monopods also.

Yeah. Thats not bad. I have the 680 which is 4 section and is a little thicker up near the top. I like it.
