i've read the ratings on anidb and other sites, but i just want to get multiple opinions on these series. i find that the opinions of OTers that frequent this section are VERY helpful. just don't post if you're going to flame. thanks in advance.

    are they worth the download?
What would you rate it out of 10? (10 being the best)

also...sometimes the descriptions on anidb make the series sound REALLY gay....yet they get pretty high ratings.

so yeah...any info you'd like to share bout these two would be great. ty

Shana was a fun series. It's got an interesting concept, some decent fight scenes, a nice romantic subplot, and a little fan service too. :naughty: It's a solid 8 out of 10. Definitely worth watching, but not overly remarkable.

Noein blows my mind. It's a sci-fi series that deals heavily with quantum theory. The plot starts off really strong and didn't really hook me until about the 5th episode or so when things started to click. I can't tell if the art is just really stylized or really poor quality, but the sound effects are top notch ichiban sugoi amazing. I can't wait for Shinsen to release the final episode.

EDIT: Great music in Noein, too.

I plan on getting into Noein soon...

I've seen Shakugan no Shana though. It was pretty good for the most part, but the main guy character Yuji was lame IMO. There's lots of action and a pretty unique and somewhat complex plot.

noein is owning me in the way that I CAN'T GET THE FILES.

i know shinsen subs them, but my made mode of downloading is mIRC. shinsen's dumb bots that have the earlier episodes all have the stupid firewall. i type the stuff they tell me to type (/dcserver or whatever)...yet it doesn't really help.

anyone know another channel or anything off IRC i can get noein episodes from?

for shakugan, i have up to ep 19 :)

Sheska and Kotori aren't firewalled and they have em. Sheska has all of them but Kotori is missing a couple of the earlier ones.

Shana reminds me a lot of Sailor Moon for some reason. Probably because of the fairly goofy enemies and ultimate battle for existence stuff that's so out there it's hard to take seriously.

I give it a 7/10. It has potential if they produce more episodes. The love triangle and fan service stuff are the big draws.
