GUN No sales of handguns in Chicago?

    I heard this from my friend yesterday. I researched this issue and couldn't come up with anything. :hs:

    Statewide, you must have a Firearms Owners ID to own a pistol or handgun ammo. IL does not allow its subjects to exercise their right to concealed carry, with or without a permit.

    The City of Chicago requires all handguns to be registered upon purchase and regularly renewed afterwards. No new registrations have been accepted since 1982. :hs: So, pretty much, your friend is right.

    You can purchase handguns. My buddy just bought one a couple months ago. I'm not sure about all that registration shit, but I'll be purchasing a handgun within the next upcoming weeks, so I'll let you know how that works out :wiggle:

    Come to think about it... he does live in chicago, but probably had it registered in another town since he also owns a house in a western suburb. I live in franklin park so no problem for me. :dunno:
