So I built a machine for video editing a few months ago, and recently decided it's time to step up in the storage department.

I know fck-all about this, but someone basically recommended I do this: Get a case that'll hold a bunch of drives, a good power supply, processor, 1 gig of ram, windows server 2003, run it in raid5, and use a gig LAN line to connect it to my editor for storage/editing right from the server.

Does this make sense? Can anyone recommend me some specifics?

    Thanks! :x:

if it's just for storage,... a dedicated server might not be the most cost-effective solution unless you already have the parts that you can use to build one.

consider a NAS (network attached storage), or even daisy-link a bunch of USB external drives. :dunno:
