No bullshit. This is my real 10 shot group at 100 yards. Shot only one group. Did not shoot several and posted my best one.

No fancy ranson rest. Group was shot with nothing but a bipod and a shooting mat. Distance was confirmed with a laser range finder. There was no match today so I went to the range to sight in my rifle (fairly new barrel) and confirm my balistic charts at various distances with the match ammo I'm going to shoot at the R and R Racing match in Oregon next month.

Might notice the rifle has a new stock now. A LMT Sopmod that I pulled off a prize table recently. Not sure if it will stay on as right not it slightly interfers with the charging handle. Might need to have my AR smith look at it. To be honest I think the A2 stock might be the better fit for me.

Here is my new tables for the new barrel and ammo. barrel is a 18" JP light weight w/ a 1x8 twist. Ammo is 25 grains varget behind a 68 grain serria match king

Love that gun. Why a 35yd zero? Just the average distance you shoot?

with my present 35 yard zero a 600 yard shot would be 107" low. I would have to click the scope up 72 clicks to get onto target. Never done it before, I will try next time I'm out where they have targets out to 600.

If you look at my chart if I zero at 35 (with my setup and ammo) I'm also zero'ed at 254 yards. Most of the long range targets I shoot in 3 gun matches are 100 - 400 yards. This zero gives me the best balence at the 150-350 yard targets that are most common at the matches I shoot.

you can see the black mark on my target above the group. That is a little bit of spray paint. I made a mark to give myself a reference point.

group size is distance of widest points minus the bullet diameter. It is 3/4"

Here is a pic of the full target. The other holes are 9mm. the target got blasted on earlier doing various drills. Since the head was reasonably untouched I used it for my rifle group later in the day. You can see it had spay paint marks all over the target. The hole below my group must of been made by a rock or something as it is not a bullet hole (no grease ring)

anybody going to call me out? I plan on shooting groups for money.

Some noob yapping about his sks being a 1 moa rifle. Yar walks up and challenges $20 to put his group where his mouth is. Guy doesn't even put 10 holes on target. Yar offers double or nothing that he can shoot a 1 moa group with nothing but going prone and a bipod. Yar takes his $40 and goes and buys some beer.

    Nice group.

I look forward to going back out to my uncle's place and trying some prone shooting with the AR and savage. I do ok off a bench but nobody around here will let you shoot prone.

Yeah I try to stay off the bench. It's just not good practice for me as you rarely get to shoot off a bench with a rifle rest and a rear bag at a match. Pretty much any chance we get during a match we are hitting the deck for those long range shots. Thus when I sight in, practice, or anything I get down in the dirt.

I do bring a nice padded mat though. Some stage designers are mean and don't give you anything so you got to get down in the dirt. I learned long ago not to wear white to a rifle match.

I shoot the molly from time to time, but right now I shoot the fmj's, or jhp's. Basicly whatever I can find a deal on.

Farthest shot I've taken in a match is 400 yards.

Gotcha. I didn't know if the possible CBS/velocity benefits would be worth anything in the 3gun arena.

I haven't made the switch yet, but my next two boltgun projects are geared to run the stuff exclusively.

A shame that ammo sponsorship isn't more common.... The cost of equipment is nothing compared to the cost of ammo these days.

    Good shootin', btw.

Good shooting with the AR though.

February for the shot show in 2009. If your serious bring a sks and I'll borrow a AR from one of the vendors on the range day. :)

I was only kidding. I'm hoping school won't get in the way of Shot next year like it did this time around, especially when it's only 2 hours away.
