Just curious...my main focus at the gym is pure 100% cardio...600 calories a day now using only ellitpical machine...

Is this stuff gonna help me or is it mainly for people who lift?

    My diet consists of < 1500 calories/day.

I'm 5'7 currently 229 as of last Thursday...about 26 days ago, I was 247. I've been overweight most of my life and want a drastic change. Based on my progress so far, in about 5-6 weeks, I'll be approaching the 200lb mark which is where I plan to modify my diet a little and add in some strength training so I'm not a complete stick figure when I get to the weight I'm looking for (140lbs-160lbs).

My main question is will protein whey slow down my weight loss or contribute?

a lot of weight yoru losing is probably muscle. try slowing down the wieght loss with more food and some weight training so you can preserve as much lean mass as possible.

Remember, more lean mass, more calories burened during day to day activities

What # calories consumed/day should I shoot for...

What I said earlier, eating <1500 calories / day is a very optimistic count...Realistically, I exceed this every so often, maybe to 1650-1700 calories / day..and I cheat 1 day in the weekend w/a burger and few fries....so don't get me wrong, im not sick!!

    229 * 11 = 2519

I am trying to lose weight, not maintain...

also, fyi, don't rely so much on the "calorie meters" on cardio machines. Intensity+time>*
