I'm just wondering what the over all feel about this lens is. I have an option to pick up a nikkor 55-200mm AF-S, F4-5.6 DX for about a 100 dollars. It's nothing amazing obviously, but is it a good deal or pointless?

Is it some version without VR? I used the one with VR and it was pretty decent. I'd buy one for 100 dollars.

It surprisingly sharp and compact. For $100, Id pick it up for sure.

If you think you'll put it to use a lot, sure. It depends on what kind of shooting you do. I have the 70-300 shit-version and it's pretty rare for me to break it out. For 100 its kinda tempting though
