Rumors of the Nikon D60 have been floating around before the D40 was released, but Ken Rockwell, for one (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d60.htm) is guessing (?) that the D60 will be announced on the 31st of January. I have a D50, and while it's okay, I'd really, really love a depth of field preview function on a camera that's not $1800, and of course an AF motor on the body. Anybody heard anything about it?

I seriously doubt nikon will pump out another camera to replace the d40, since they're still running the "stunning nikon" contest...

and a d40 clone, same size, weighs nothing, and has the same quality as the d200?

shit, I'd almost switch to canon if they pull some stupid shit like that. v. hasad200.

Pretty much worthless on entry level bodies with small viewfinders.

Chuck Norris beat him in a game of chess 14 years ago. He hasn't been the same man since.

if they don't put an AF motor in it, that's going to be really stupid.

the d40/d40x is practically crippled in that respect. sure, sell people an entry-level dslr but make it so they have to buy expensive lenses if they want all the features. GREAT idea

Only Ken Rockwell can take pictures of Ken Rockwell; everyone else would just get their film overexposed by the light of his genius

DOF preview button is overrated in a digital camera. Just take a pic and adjust as needed. :o

there is a difference between the size of your viewfinder on a film body versus a 1.5x or 1.6x crop body.

Interesting how people are saying that they don't think that I would like a particular feature. I respectfully disagree, and the fact that Nikon includes this feature on more expensive bodies means that somebody over there in Japan agrees with me too. I like the feature on the D80, and would like to see it on a cheaper body (especially since even the D80 is outclassed by the D50 in terms of metering and arguably saturation/noise, and the D50 is outclassed by the D40x in terms of raw pixelage).
