i prefer the d70 but there really isn't much difference except the lens you get. check the site above and compare the two.

I dislike how small the D50 is.

The lens you get with the D50 is far superior to the one of the 350D.

If I were to get the 350D, I'd have to buy body only and get a decent lens.

I have a D50, its pretty much equal in quality to my Dads D70, just doesn't have all the features.

im honestly not sure I would choose the d50 over the 350D, if I was new id probably be edging towards the canon, or id try to get a d70(s) I consider that one to be a much more capable camera..image quality wise yes they are the same, but the d70 feels so much nicer, and has quite a few sweet things.

I like the way the D50 fits my hand better then the Canon. Also the D50 feels a little tighter, not a cheap as the 350D

ohh agreed..ill take nikon's feeling over canon's everyday, I just would rather choose a d70 over the d50 since the difference isn't much in price

im very happy with my d70. Im very glad I didn't get the 300d (before the 350d came out) or waited until the d50 came out because the d70, for being entry level, feels very pro like.

I have the D50 and have been more than surprised with how well it has worked. If you aren't doing anything way too crazy with photography and are looking for a cool entry level SLR, it does the trick quite nicely.

I made my purchase recently. I was pretty sold on the D50 by feel, so i went and did some research. DPreview. Well, it leaned me towards the XT. The D70 is a step up from the XT, but not a huge jump. The XT did feel smallish and light (cheap) so i AGAIN was back on the fence. THEN! I was standing in the shop talking to a VERY informative guy behind the counter, and i explained how i felt about the XT being fairly light and cheap feeling. He pulled out the BG and threw it on the demo unit. DAY AND NIGHT difference. That extra heft and size on the XT made all the difference in the world. I was sold! I picked it up the next day and haven't looked back. My plan was the pick up the BG kit fairly quick but a couple lenses have found their way into my bag already so i think i may wait til after xmas.

Kit lens on the 350D is pretty good :hsugh:

Its very light and decent. When I go for long trips i take kit lens instead of my 4lb+ other lenses

D70 is not a set up from XT :ugh: They are in the same class.
