I have a canon g6 right now but I want to get an SLR... what do you think of the Nikon D50? I don't have enough money right now for the D70 cause I'm a broke college student. I don't know much about Nikon because I have only had Canon cameras, so if there are any big differences I would appreciate it if you could tell me about it.

    Thanks!

    Aaand, here's a pic.

Check out the reviews. Most of what I've heard say the D50 is much more capable than it would seem and performs very well for the money.

    ding ding ding!

    Actually, the only differences are:

--D70 goes up to 1/8000 sec shutter whereas the D50 goes up to 1/4000
    --D70 does 3 fps whereas the D50 does 2.5
--D50 uses SD (which I can't stand) whereas the D70 uses CF
    --D50 has a bigger lcd by .2"
Also, the D50 introduces 3D Matrix metering II...?

Dont' know if thats worth the extra $200 for the D70...:dunno:

Thanks for laying it all out. I'm not a professional, this is just my hobby but I still want a quality camera. I think the D50 would be good enough for me.
