So dpreview has gotten their hands on a Nikon D50 it seems. What do you guys think? I dont understand 75% of the words in the reviews. In layman's terms, is this a good camera?

Looks like a good camera, BUT I doesn't make me regret at all buying my 350D XT.

Also, it looks like a slightly bigger camera than the XT or *ist DS.

Yea...I wonder why didnt just do CF. But SD is good enough to capture 35 frames at 2.5/ sec. :dunno: And IIRC, the price is pretty competitive with CF? Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah. SD cards are getting to be just as fast, or even faster than CF. Cheap too- and lots and lots of stuff uses them nowadays.

I love it. You get more pics in jpeg burst mode than a d70 :coold: still not that cheap though at $899. dell doesn't sell nikons :sad2:

For high end pro cameras, CF is still the standard, but many of them are coming with dual interface CF and SD.

SD can offer higher speeds, capacities, etc in a smaller package.

SD makes sense for making smaller cameras.

Any of you guys do 30 second burst photography ?

Sd does make sense for smaller cameras. Not everyone is dual interfacing though. That takes even more space.

It's a fucking marketing gimmick just like megapixels. Some guy on FM posted a 8 shot burst he did on his 1D Mark II. The middle shot was the best, but he was initiating the burst from the right of the frame, then panning left (the id show is where the car is in front of him) then bursting left. :wtf: Just pan ahead of time and take the shot in the middle. :hsugh:

If there was a camera that did 2fps for 10 minutes you guys would gobble that shit up but NOBODY would use it, save one or two people. :hsugh:

Notice the D50 grip is about high enough for somebody to fit one more pinky on the grip. :noes:

that was some serious usage of the camera there

my point..guess there is actually one or two people that will like long constant speed

Yea, I dont use burst mode for more than 2-3 seconds. Usually your subject is long gone by then :o Unless you are just freaking bored and wanted to make a huge animated gif or something :o

So how about this camera? How does it look on paper? Hash Brown? 48? Anyone else who frequents those 300 page DSLR thread in the main forum :p

from what I see image quality wise it looks identical to the d70 which is already an outstanding camera, specs look all very similar, I guess its how you prefer to go, the canon way or the nikon way..or those others, I really cant see either way being the wrong choice
