I really don't understand why anybody would get this over the d700.

I wonder what they are going to name the d90's predecessor?

If it is the d100, they already made one long ago!

I'm sure within less than a year the new features of this camera are going to translate into a D800 (possibly) with the full frame, most likey a tick or two above $3,000! Technology is moving so fast these days, its almost hard to keep up with everything!

The D700 won't be replaced until 2010. Nikon never refreshes anything besides the very low end faster than once every 18 months or so. Pro cams even longer.

They may release a small-bodied D3X, but that's targeted at a different market than the D700.

Yeah, no one is gonna buy that when the 700 is a few hundred more. Is the D300 that old already? I feel like from the 200-300 was so much longer.

I was in Korea in Oct, and the Korean currency shot up to 1400won = $1US. Normally the exchange rate hovers around 960won = $1US At that time, Nikon hadn't adjusted prices for the exchange rate spike. I went into a camera store, and I could have gotten a D700 for $1900. :wtc:
