Two or more members from OT have these, and both of them shoot for college newspapers.

($899)$999 to $1999 for a body is a big jump.

There are a lot of features on the D2H that most people will not need.

$1000 could buy you a very nice lens.

It's a bait-and-switch scam... or they will charge you for all the factory accessories.

    A brand new D2H should be $1999.

If you really want a nice basic setup, the D70 is good.

    If you have the bucks,

    A D70 body + SB-800 flash + 12-24mm f/4 DX + 70-200mm f/2.8 VR will cover most anything you need.

    Kind of $$$ though

I really wish Nikon had some wider low aperture lenses like canon does.. either that or they'd quit with the magnification factor on digitals.. I love the digitals, but I can't get some of the signature shots I kinda of was known for with the film. It seems they're all like you said has f/4 unless it's a non zoom, but I need zoom.

You know, a 16-35mm f/2.8 on a 1Ds will probably have light falloff just like it does on a 35mm film camera.

The 12-24mm f/4 is pretty good :dunno:

how much is that 16-35 though it seems like any lense I'm like that's perfect with my digital costs as much as the damn camera body or close. f/4 won't work i shoot literally in the dark.

For Example.... (hope my photobucket is working again) *excuse the cheesy name drawn across the mid they're my "websafe" shots lol..this one was published as front page article on a Steve Vai article.:hsd:

The Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 cost around the same. The 17-55mm f/2.8 is near $1200 now.

And the 12-24mm f/4 is closer to $900.

I love that lense, but for my usual application I need zoom..

    17-55mm f/2.8 AF-S dx would be perfect.
