I need to send in my D2H for service because it doesn't work in Aperture/Shutter/Program modes. When I say doesn't work, I can set it on Aperture priority for F8 ISO 200 on a sunny day point it at something and it will set the exposure time to 1 second.

Where is the best place to send it? Straight to Nikon or to an Authorized Service center?

Send it straight to Nikon, it's located in NY if you're east of the Mississippi but you can still send it to the West Coast if you prefer (like them better.

Your D2H might have the meter failure documented by them as a TSB. Free repair regardless of warranty or ownership. I had my D2H meter replaced about a year ago for the same problem.

It's about a 2 week turnaround for non-NPS. I got mine back in 2 business days.

Here's the Service Form you need to download:

Wow, thanks for the info. So I don't need to call and get an RMA # etc... just fill this out and send it in?

Yes sir. I just enclosed a letter describing the problem as stated in the TSB and they replaced the meter no questions asked. When they recieve the package they will send you a letter in the mail letting you know they recieved it and give you a tracking number to login to their service website for updates. Typically they send an "estimate" for services via email and snail mail for services needed but under warranty they just go ahead and do the work. They will then notify you when it is complete and you can track the shipment online which is typically 2-3 day air.

They also clean and do a general checkup and they replace the rubber grips with new ones free of charge since they have to take them off to do the service anyways. Great Nikon service. NPS is especially helpful because they have gone above and beyond (overnighted me a loaner camera which I keet it as long as my body was in service).

I will if I don't get it back in a couple weeks or so. I'm just happy it's being repaired under the TSB, I don't mind shooting with my D50 anyway, biggest thing I miss is the speed of the D2H.

My D2H came back from Nikon while I was gone for a week. This thing looks damn near brand new now! They replaced all the rubber pieces, cleaned it and fixed everything that was wrong with it :) :bigthumb: to Nikon!!!!!!!!!
